The Republic of Kazakhstan is located in both Central Asia and Europe. By area, it is the ninth largest country in the world, at 2,727,300 square kilometers. They are bordered by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, going clockwise starting at north. Their capital is Astana. Kazakhstan has the strongest & largest performing economy in all of Central Asia. Their main output is oil, which generates them the most money. Their nominal GDP per capita ranks as the 68th largest in the world, at $15,218.
Kazakhstan's government is a dominant-party presidential republic. They employ both a President and a Prime Minister. Their legislature is a parliament with an upper and lower house. They gained their independence from the USSR in December 1991. The Kazakhstani people have two official languages, Kazakh and Russian. With a population of approximately 17,948,800 as of 2014, they are still one of the least densely populated countries in the word, ranking 227th at 5.94 people per square kilometer. The main religion practiced in this region is Islam.
