GREE, Inc. (hereafter ʺthe company") operates the SNS community, GREE as well as an Internet Media business and has done so since it was first established.
GREE began from the passion and principle that "We can make the world a better place through the power of the Internet." Since the day we started, we have been exploring the new potential of the Internet and working to provide innovation as soon as possible, to as many people as possible. The changes the Internet will have on the world have only just begun. There is infinite potential that remains to be discovered. To bring this potential into the world, GREE will continue to put our passion and principle into action, in order to provide enjoyment and happiness to our usersʹ lives and make our society more open and convenient.
.gree will be a domain for the SNS community GREE (hereafter "the community"), the company GREE, and our stakeholders. The primary purpose of .gree is to consolidate the various domain names held by the GREE SNS community, the company, and its stakeholders under a single TLD. In addition, the company aims to achieve the following goals.
1. Alleviating user confusion and improving convenience for Internet users
The company has registered many domain names under various gTLDs and ccTLDs not only for actual use but also as a defensive measure to protect the community and the company trademarks. Despite these efforts, there are still many domain name registrations and websites that infringe the trademark rights of GREE, Inc. and the community. As a result, Internet users can have difficulty differentiating bona fide websites from fraudulent ones. Positioning .gree as the official domain for the company and the community, and unifying the company's and the community's web presence under .gree, would provide easy access and interaction which we believe would reduce confusion and improve user experience.
2. Marketing / Branding
Since .gree is a brand new TLD that directly represents the community/brand name, the company expects it to be a highly effective marketing and branding tool. The company believes that .gree will not only reinforce the GREE brand on the Internet, but also attract people to the website because .gree domain names make it easier for both members of the GREE community and Internet users in general to access information related to the company and community. We believe that this will help contribute to growth and development of the community.
3. Simplifying domain name management
The third purpose in applying for .gree is to simplify the management of domain names the company has registered.
