The Commonwealth of the Bahamas consists of 29 islands and 2,387 inlets, located in the Atlantic Oceans. Its island neighbors are the Turks and Caicos Islands, which are located to the southeast of the Bahamas. Their capital is Nassau. Half of the jobs in this region are generated by its tourism industry. They also are known for their banking and international financial services, though that may stop because of the Stop Tax Haven Abuse Act in the United States Congress. Right now they are known as one of the richest countries in the Americas.
An independent, sovereign nation, the Bahamas follow very closely to the Westminster system in the United Kingdom. Their political system has two main parties: the Free National Movement and the Progressive Liberal Party. The Bahamas is home to approximately 353,658 people. The official languages there are English and Spanish, with some other minor dialects used in some areas. It is moderately populated in this region, with plenty of room for future growth.
